I’ve lately been musing about the lesbian lifestyle and all its attendant implications on women’s sexuality, and I’ve hit a profound realization. If lesbianism is a “naturally” occurring condition and not an acquired behaviour, why is it that lesbians experience menstrual flow just like other heterosexual women?
A lesbian couple on their “wedding” day. Do these women experience monthly menstrual flow and do they understand why this happens?
The answer to this seemingly innocuous question is quite revealing and I’ll illustrate this. The basic biological reason why women experience their monthly periods is to prepare their bodies for the possibility of a pregnancy. And since we know that a lesbian cannot become pregnant from having sex with another woman, why then should a woman who claims to have been born gay experience menstrual flow?
Let me put it another way so that my argument is clearer. If nature intended for the human race to have lesbians, then it doesn’t make any sense why nature would accord them a complete reproductive system similar to heterosexual women. Please note that this system regenerates itself every month in readiness for child bearing.
Come to think of it, for a woman to claim that she was born a lesbian, we would expect her not to have breasts, a vagina and a regular menstrual flow. These physical attributes are not just for aesthetic purposes but are essentially very functional – for the continuity of the human race through male and female sexual reproduction.
Let women who claim to be born as lesbians stop fooling themselves and the rest of us. This is a psychological problem that requires corrective therapy, not celebration.

As a result, women have fewer heart attacks and strokes etc.

Corrective therapy is a bad joke, since it’s been proved, long time ago, to simply not work. It moderates stereotypical behaviours (not sexual preferences), it cause psychological damage creating self-loathing, guilt and sexual dysfunction (which leads rather to miserable asexuality and suicide than to heterosexuality), it’s illegal, unethical and totally unapproved by APA.
I hope you learned something. First, you don’t know a thing about lgbt’s. Second, love and acceptance of human diversity is a virtue, hate and rejection on the other hand are petty. Third, nice try making an argument against people not much different from anyone straight, but honestly as always, u make a case out of nowhere. Hope someday people even like u will realize that there is no solid argument against homosexuality and that the hatefull propaganda is actually coming from the ones in power who are supposed to love thy neighbour.

After reading all the articles in this website, and the outstanding weakness of many commenters to deliver any short of concrete data or a simple objective truth on the matter, i was about to give up thinking that the people who read that kind of published crap (except commenters like truthsay3r), are hopeless and incapable of love, honesty or even rational justification of this hatred.
But then, i read your response and i thought: “There’s still hope out there”. I am amazed on the fact that there are people (like u) that can read a controversial subjects and still be able to notice there’s something falacious on this fight against that so-called “perversion” without letting their own prejudice and misinformation to blind their judgement.
I can tell presumably from the first line of your response that you have a little prejudice as well, but also an unexpected understanding of the truth, that makes u capable of being objective on such a matter, regardless of what u’ve been told to believe. U r right about something: i’m higly educated. It’s a norm in my world. Social sciences, different religions and psychology are few of my favourite specialties due to my keen interests. As a kid, i was very religious and kinda homophobic too, but currently i’ve reached to a certain point where i can be entirely sure that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality and provide thorough justification on that. I’ve examined every possible argument people say against homosexuality and i can assure u they always fail in many different ways to have a solid point.
U may have been told that in the western world where i i’m growing up people are immoral, corrupted, legalizing any short of abnormarlity or crime etc. My response to that: Until you hear both sides of a story, u either know half the truth or none of it. Seeing is believing and i’ve seen too many things that my perception on homosexuality has changed radically from what i’ve been taught ab initio. Just listen to the other side and make your own judgement. Learn to question everything u hear, even the things i say to u. Don’t take anything for granted.
Keep in mind that this website is full of lies, misconceptions, made-up arguments, anachronistic propaganda, biased ancient researches that have been debunked long time ago by the very sciences they are supposed to rely on, the author is unable to tell a pedophile (or a rapist) from a homosexual. Whenever i question any of the nonsenses they say, they don’t have the desency to accept their fallacies or even prove me wrong for once striking any of my rebuttals and they use pedophilia as an excuse linking it falsely to homosexuality to rage people.
Just keep in mind that whether u abuse a little boy or a little girl (matter of age), it’s wrong and irrelevant to being gay or straight (matter of gender). Whether or not somebody is born homosexual is as irrelevant to the moral legitimacy of homosexuality as whether or not you are born with an innate desire to make an online blogg is to the moral legitimacy of you doing so.
Nature doesn’t “intend” anything as it isn’t conscious. Your overall point in this thread is a non sequitur. Heterosexuality is neither necessary, nor sufficient for procreation & neither is heterosexual copulation, while homosexuality does not preclude it as a possibility.

Concerning your other points (not sure what you were getting at but):
Many women don’t have men in their life, though they remain women. Whether or not a women has the qualities of a reproductive system in her life seems irrelevant to her moral legitimacy or that of her relationships.

I have a period because I have ovaries and I eat enough to maintain a healthy bodyweight.
There are women of varying sexual orientations (including straight women) who do not experience a period. This may be for many reasons: she may have been born without ovaries, she may have what doctors call a “lazy ovary” (and experience irregular periods and difficulty with conception), or she may be one of the unfortunately many women who suffers from an eating disorder.
However, simply because a woman experiences a period, does not mean she should reproduce.
I experienced my first period at 12 years of age; would you tell a 12 year old girl to become sexually active with men to try and conceive a child?
I certainly would hope not!

I can’t believe people discuss homosexuality, this is not sickness its not anyone’s business, unless they are dating you…and again its really not any business of anybody’s what happens under another’s pants whatsoever….I find this blog the most backward of blogs in Kenya and yet it has followers. How can someone in His right mind have the guts to stop thinking…..I mean aren’t there things to blog about….seriously!?! Or wait a minute, you are a christian, its only in the bible where homosexuality is a sin….Well Im an atheist but believe I know wring and right….and this being gay is not wrong….after all what makes you think being straight is right….just course you are many straight people right? In my most arrogant opinion, this is definitely a not well researched article, sorry to disappoint. Homosexuality in women in seen to a result of nature or nurture, not necessarily the biological make up of a person. A lesbian is a woman who has sexual feelings for another woman and enjoys intimacy with them, it wouldn’t really make them lesbians if they did not experience menstrual flow, would it now? Because that is what normal women experience, regardless of their sexual orientation. There is also possibility of artificial insemination, so the menstruation comes in handy, you’re welcome 🙂

let me just say that i never believed that being in the 21st century and the amount of knowledge we have acquired throughout life, that i would read such a narrow minded article, no wait, this whole blog is full of BS.. i mean really guy?? i personally hated biology in high school but i don’t remember(who was a staunch christian btw) saying anything like lesbians should not get their menstruation. i think you’re a narrow minded dyslexic who doesn’t really have any idea what he’s talking about. i get that you want to share your opinion, but make sure you give educated opinions and don’t just dive in head first into something you clearly know nothing about.. also you’re a discriminating prick and if i ever met you on the street(better hope not) i would totally spit on you.. i know I’m like 2 years late on this article but god you’re full of shit!!
